Product Description
During the Seventies, ATOLL has been a major component of the French musical scene, as far as Progressive rock is concerned. Often compared to ANGE, the band from the city of Metz displayed however a different kind of music, closer to YES and more American jazz-rock fusion-oriented. It recorded four splendid studio albums, including the masterpiece "L'Araignée-Mal" (1975). After having nearly hired John WETTON (KING CRIMSON, UK, ROXY MUSIC ), the band chose to call it a day at the beginning of the next decade. Christian BEYA chose new musicians and recorded "L'Océan" in 1989. Then nothing happened... Until today ! "Illian - J'Entends Gronder La Terre" (2003) marks the return of ATOLL, still led by guitar player extraordinaire Christian BEYA. In the same vein as the great epics of the Seventies, this concept-album tells us the story of a traveller coming from outer space: Illian. Lucidity and bitterness grows in her mind bit by bit, as he contemplates our world..! . A quest youll have to discover by yourself. The story is masterfully narrated by Raoul LEININGER, and Michel ALTMAYER (TROLL) gave help for precise drumming. As to prove that oppositions of the past were pure inventions, an ANGE member (Caroline CROZAT) makes a very special appearance on vocals. Did someone say "Incredible" ???
