Product Description
Carl Perkins announced his arrival on Sun Records in January 1956 with the incredible and perennial "Blue Suede Shoes," the first single ever to top the American Pop, Country and R&B charts. In 1978, Carl crashed back into the UK charts for the first time in more than 20 years with the TV-advertised album "Ol' Blue Suede's Back" on the Jet label. Carl subsequently made a couple of highly successful UK tours during 1978, duly consolidating one of the more welcome - if least likely - comebacks of the 70s. This DVD is effectively a souvenir of Carl Perkins' "comeback" campaign. The playlist comprises the original 1978 album "Ol' Blue Suede's Back" plus a recently uncovered follow-up album as well as a pair of outtakes from the same sessions. Bonus tracks feature a BBC Radio London interview with rock specialist Charlie Gillett the week of the album's release plus a handful of songs which Carl performed live on Radio 1's "It's Rock'n'Roll" a week later, backed by a superb studio band including Dave Edmunds on guitar.
