Product Description
VERSAILLES is a very interesting French band led by charismatic Guillaume De La PILIERE. It performs a powerful Progressive rock full of nuances and close to ANGEs, with Christian DECAMPS style of typically dramatic vocals and theatrical tone. Fully mature from their first album "La Cathédrale Du Temps" (1991) onwards, this band has still refined and polished its music both technically and melodically, while their spirit and sounds remained in the best ANGE tradition. No electronic drums or digital instruments are showcased here: analogue rules ! The concept-album "Le Trésor De Vallièsres" (1994) includes superb keyboards (Aamong which a Mellotron bought from YES !) and gets even closer to the sound and spirit of the seventh decade of this ending Twentieth Century "Blaise Et Benjamin" (1998) was their latest album recorded and it didnt deny (It actually reinforced) their three previous productions. It is a brilliant concept-album, a moral tale, a philosophical quest, an opposition between the energy of youth and the wisdom of the old age, a fight between the Good and the Evil Those four tracks (The shortest is almost 10 minute long while the longest one lasts about 20 minutes !) take us to a musical landscape that reminds of YES, GENESIS or CAMEL. This masterpiece is nevertheless quite original and personal, and even deeply influenced by its country A true French theatrical epic !
