An ambitious debut, Liquidizer integrates disparate musical styles into a single formula for pop music. The songs are typically anchored on guitar hooks and punctuated by noisy samples of found sounds, all of which support soaring (though occasionally uninspired) vocal melodies. Jesus Jones is well-versed in several modern genres, incorporating fragments of rock, industrial, hip-hop and techno into their vocabulary. Unfortunately, these influences often remain distinct, failing to fuse into a cohesive structure (although this does not distract from the stand-alone power of the singles).
