About the Artist
The members of The Strategy Game have known each other one way or another for about 7 years. Because of Miguel's prior commitments in Hopeless Records? The Story So Far the group remained a side project. They officially starting working full time on The Strategy Game in early 2003. Fast-forwarding to late 2003 found the band going full-time and gearing up for their first live show. But first, they decided to buck unsigned local band tradition and record before doing any shows. They stepped in to Andy Gerber?s North side studio Million Yen for a 7-song demo. On September 21st 2003 they took the stage at Subterranean, headlining their first show ever and selling out the 150 person capacity room. Early 2004 finds the band recording a second series of demos with Andy Gerber at Million Yen Studios after getting 5 shows under their belts. They played Subterranean again as well as Double Door, Beat Kitchen, and Metro. They have had the opportunity to play with some great! local acts including The BuddyRevelles, Caviar, The Assembly, Light FM, Drive and Giant Step. They have headlined 2 shows at Subterranean ? both of which have sold out. The band hopes to continue their local success as well as venture out of the windy city to take their music abroad.
Product Description
Chicago based, The Strategy Game?s debut EP titled ?Take One? features five songs excellently orchestrated. ?We Are The Air? leads off the EP as the band showcases its talent with a mixture of Brit pop and Indie rock hinting an 80?s influence, giving this genre a face lift to what has became music standard. While the ?Take One? falls into a category of the Muse and the Strokes, this release is not bound by this style as tracks ?Moving Picture? and ?All These Stars? illustrates. Lyrically, ?Take One? has a lot of substance, as The Strategy Games separates itself from the mainstream with a sound that leaves one wanting more.
