About the Artist
With a guitar/guitar/drums lineup in the tradition of the Gories and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the Buzzkill Romantics play blistering garage-rock and minor key post-punk. Live, they possess a captivating presence bristling with manic energy. Debuting in the summer of 2003, The Buzzkill Romantics have already shared bills with international touring acts The Mooney Suzuki, The Kills, VUE and Starlight Desperation at venues such as San Diego's Casbah and New York's CBGB's. They were nominated as San Diego's Best Alternative band for the 2004 San Diego Music Awards and their debut Album, Cold Cold Cold, released in November 2004. Their first single, "Pretty Girls Need Friends" is getting airplay on 91X and 94/9 in San Diego. The Buzzkill Romantics were formed by Jason Hee (formerly of Rookie Card) and Davida Milkes (lead guitarist for the San Diego Music Awards nominated S.D.B.O.) who recruited S.D.B.O. drummer, Charlie Brownell, a founding member of The Nephews.
