Hellion is considered one of America's premier 1980s power metal acts. The band formed in 1982 in a locally infamous haunted mansion in Tujunga which was called the "Annieville Horror House." The group began throwing their own shows on the estate and landed a contract with the LA punk label Mystic Records by the end of the year. After releasing several singles on Mystic the band was signed to UK-based label, Music For Nations. The band's first release, the "Mini-LP" was voted Number 3 "Record Of The Year" by the journalists at Kerrang Magazine and managed to clime to #6 in the UK rock charts. Later, the band was taken under the wing of Ronnie James Dio. The band went on to release a series of albums and a video ("Bad Attitude") which recieved considerable airplay on MTV and Sky Channel. In the late 1980s Hellion became the first American rock or metal band ever to tour in the former Soviet Union. Their Monsters of Rock performance in Moscow was televised to millions of east European viewers. In 1990 the band undertook one of the most ambitious projects ever by releasing a concept album which coincided with a novel which was written by the band's singer, Ann Boleyn ("The Black Book"). The band is known for it's excellent two-guitar attack and harmonies and for having one of the most powerful female vocalists in metal. Vocalist Ann Boleyn was named one of the TOP 100 WOMEN IN MUSIC by viewers in VH1's special poll.
