An amazing historic recording of Tyrannosaurus Rexs first ever gig, at the Middle Earth club, London on 23rd September 1967. This recording, made from the audience has been extensively balanced and cleaned by Canadian producer Robert Lanford and presents the earliest surviving recording by the duo. Also included on this set are four bonus tracks recorded late 1967 at an unknown venue in London. The outfit were formed when 19 year old Marc Bolan placed an ad in International Times during June 1967 looking for members for a new band (interestingly he would still be a member of Johns Children for another month). One person who responded was 17 year old Steve Peregrine Took and after the original six piece electric group had all their gear re-posessed the duo carried on acoustically. Middle Earth was based in Covent Garden and was one of the main Underground clubs of the time hosting regular slots by Pink Floyd, Soft Machine and the Exploding Galaxy. The T. Rex Action Group is a non-profit making organisation, with all monies being ploughed back into the releases and was formed in 1999 to promote Marc Bolan and act as a forum for like minded fans.
