The Commercial Appeal, December 30, 2005
Awarded "Best Album of 2005 By A Band You've Never Heard Of" by Memphis's largest newspaper, The Commercial Appeal
Product Description
THE COOTERS are a trio of punk metal bastards, willingly exiled to the backwoods of Mississippi to spread the gospels on the front lines. Being their third and best full-length release, this new CD was written and constructed over the course of three years and skillfully recorded by Tom Queyja in Oxford, Mississippi. THE COOTERS have been blowing away unsuspecting audiences since 1993, formed when bass player Neuter Cooter returned to his home territory after living for some time in Minneapolis (where he previously formed the band PISSED and helped edit Profane Existence Magazine, not to mention his own 'zine Assault With Intent to Free). THE COOTERS first EP was released in 1994 and have since been carefully crafting a sound that combines elements of punk, metal, and even some elements of classic southern blues, taking on serious political issues with humor and wit. This is NOT your typical Profane Existence Records release, which of course makes us even more proud to take part.
