She's shared stages with Radiohead and Peter Frampton. She's been compared to Chrissie Hynde and Lenny Kravitz. Shannon Moore truly possesses all the ingredients needed for stardom. She's got the balls and gutsy vocal bravado of someone like Sass Jordan, but she has far more depth, and a more versatile songwriting ability. At times, Moore has an almost Chrissie Hynde-like feel to her voice, filling her vocals with dramatic inflections and soulful phrasing.
Yet, the most important thing to remember is that Moore is above all a top-flight songwriter and has had a development deal with Sony Music Publishing. But for her to remain in obscurity as merely a songwriter would be a crime. For no one could sing her personal songs with the conviction and passion that Moore brings forth with a searing emotional temperament.
It becomes obvious that the time Moore spent with the top songwriting team of Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly as an assistant was a very valuable apprenticeship.
That wasn't her only training. The native of Houston, Texas first came to Los Angeles to complete a communications BA at the University of Southern California. After graduation, she jumped right into the music business, spending three years with Sony before answering a call from the Canadian TV show Madison which is still syndicated internationally. Soon actors were playing her music while her band Deep Julia performed in Vancouver clubs.
With LTD, named after the Ford automobile, Shannon returns to her roots with unforgettable songs delivered by one of rock's most forceful women.
"The fact is I am a woman," the singer says. "I can either play up on it of just be myself. Basically, I just want to be myself, be a person and be respected as a person. I am a sexual being and I'm going to be myself on stage."
