When last did you stare up at the sun until you were blind? When last did you take something to make the numb feel like pain again? When last did you feel young? When last did you feel alone? The Hampdens developed their music in and amongst the sun-drenched beaches of Perth. Their first demos were recorded in a vocal booth made from a cupboard in a dilapidated white mansion. Their music is about youth, absence, loss, disillusionment, hope and re-enchantment, drawing influence from literature, films, and a variety of music. Now living in Melbourne, across the road from a primary school and a power plant, The Hampdens have just completed their latest offering, the 'So Young It Hurts' EP, with the title track 'So Young It Hurts' is already featuring on the Channel 10 OC promos! Mixed and recorded by renowned UK producer Eden, best known for his work as side-kick for the legendary Nellee Hooper (Madonna), 'So Young It Hurts' is dreamy take on loss and broken hearts, infusing The Hampdens traditional sound of instrumentalism and soaring vocals. Rubber. 2005.
