About the Artist
What happens when you take a group of talented musicians and give them way too much to drink and throw them on stage? The Doubledowns

Comprised of a motley crew of musicians from different bands, The Doubledowns began as a release from the musical stagnation of rehearsal. Zeke Martino who screams, sings and plays rhythm guitar started the band with the help of drummer Rob "The Heartthrob" Schumacher in 2003. Soon after they were joined by Rob’s band mate "The Dub Boss" Ward Richmond on the upright bass, Ace McNeely on lead guitar, and Carlos on the sax. When this lineup was finally unleashed it was a sight to be seen. They provided an electric live show that with the help of some lighter fluid and a flammable singer is unlike anything you would expect from a rhythm and blues band.

Following many gigs (most of which the members have only a fuzzy recollection of), the band decided it was a good idea to go into the studio. Luckily Scotty Tecce, whose musical projects include The Boys Named Sue, Kim Lenz and the Jaguars, The Fabulous Harmonaires, and the Phantom Rockers volunteered to be the studio ringmaster of the drunken circus. After months of recording, dozens of bottles of whiskey, cartons of cigarettes and many special guests such as "Guitar" George Woolard (Big Daddy Alright), Matt Hillyer (1100 springs, Lone Star Trio), The Fabulous Harmonaires, The Girls of Assassination City Roller Derby, and the legendary blues man Pops Carter, the album was finally completed.

Product Description
Take Little Richard, Jerry lee Lewis—add some punk rock, a touch of the Who, and you could only begin to describe the sound of the Doubledowns The band is made up of a virtual all-star group of the Dallas/Denton roots-rock scene.

With vocals ranging from paint peeling screams to soulful blues, Zeke Martino commands the microphone. Carlos is by his side wailing on the sax and Ace McNeely makes his guitar sing, providing signature melodies

Big Ward Richmond and Rob "The Heart-throb" Shumacher, both from the Dallas Observer award winning Slick 57, combine their bass thumping and drum booming sounds that can only be described as the second coming of John Bohnam. The Doubledowns have created a sound that is both unique and intense.

With their 2005 debut album Dirty Slang and Innuendo released by Dallas label Crow Records, The Doubledowns are ready to unleash a new take on rhythm and blues to the world.

With the help of such special guests such as: Matt Hillyer (1100 Springs, Lone Star Trio), Jim Leynard (Johnny Reno and the Lounge Kings), Wendell Lipscomb (Twin Jewels), The Fabulous Harmonaires and Denton blues legend Pops Carter, Dirty Slang and Innuendo is sure to attract some attention.
