Founded in May 2000, Parallel is an up and coming original rock band based out of Charlotte, NC. With two EPs under their belt, Parallel decided to take the next step by recording a full length album at Gothic Recording in Columbia, SC. Under the production of Rodney Wallace, Parallel shows their full diversity in music on their album, "Staring At The Sun", set for a summer of 2002 release. With heavy guitars in songs such as "Candyman" and "Bring Me In", influences from early 90's rockers such as Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam are revealed in Parallel's music. In a music scene filled with bubble-gum pop, glitter, and dance routines, Parallel offers music fans a refreshing taste of rock and roll. Jack Smith, one of the best front-men in the business, demands the attention of everyone in the room with his crooning vocals and stage prescence. Along with Jack's showmanship in the spotlight, his lyrics are unquestionably that of a poet: "You've lost all direction like a vision fixed on a feather in the wind". Working with rhythm guitarist John Cunningham for over five years, the two make up the chemistry of the band. Adding Wil Plyler's lead guitar riffs, Thomas Duckett's drum beats and Josh Coley's bass licks, Parallel brings some of the most enjoyable music to the table for music lovers of all types. For the past two years, the band has graced the same stages as Hootie and the Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Cravin' Melon, and Weekend Excursion, building a steady fanbase and turning heads.
