Editorial Reviews

Product Description
As The Fire Show retooled for release number 2, they stumbled on this, release number 1.5. Continuing in their self-invented tradition of high-contrast, black & white art rock, The Fire Show have strung together a 42 minute collection of high-anxiety and soul searching epics.

Above the Volcano of Flowers (named with a line from Eugenio Montale’s Collected Poems) includes offerings from The Fire Show’s original line-up and from the subsequent, touring line-up. The consistent elements are singer/guitarist/samplist, M. Resplendent and guitarist/pianist/singer, Olias Nil (both formerly of Number One Cup.)

Ornette Coleman-inspired horn lines and Black Sabbath-style riffage. A haunting, angular number which asserts "we must put into you this ethereal quality of ghostliness." Mucking about in the stultifying ennui of a creative life. Resplendent cocooned in a tangle of overdriven electronic tones and drones, bellowing "Are you still into it, like I am into it?" Television, Gang of Four, Keith Levene-era Pil guitars...do you see where we're going with this?

Enjoy Above The Volcano of Flowers. The Fire Show number 2 isn’t far off. This limited release (1000) is a bridge to get you over.
