Prabhu das started writing music at the early age of 12. Since then, he has performed and recorded in different parts of the world, notably in New York City, the Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Manila, New Zealand and Beijing, China.
Influenced by the romantic Kundimans of Luzon, the Soul and blues music of Nina Simone, the jazz complexity of John Coltrane, the beautiful ornate classical music of Mozart, the Folk-Rock revolution of the Beatles, Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Jimi Hendrix, the sweet island rhythms of Calypso music and the ancient Yoga Kirtans of India, Prabhu das developed his unique style which he calls Ganga Jala music.
Poetry played a major influence in his life. After four years in medical school, he became disenchanted with the non-creative academics and transferred to a design curriculum. During this prolific period, he wrote several books of poetry, three of which were published and are now in the libraires of Yale and Cornel Universities, under the pen name P. Dadivas.
