About the Artist
Alantonio and his rich talent are back in stride after a 15-year hiatus, with jumpy Caribbean music, hip hop, politically conscious lyrics, musically diverse styles and his signature smoky vocals. When he gave up a striving career in world and Caribbean music over a decade ago, many thought that the UK born musician, songwriter and model had gone insane; some even wondered what he'd do. The one thing Alantonio was sure about was that he wanted inner peace with his spirituality. So he abruptly gave up secular music, glamour, fame and fortune, after a stunning performance at the former Audubon Ballroom in NYC, for that matter, in search of inner peace and true happiness. Alantonio said that he found that peace after being enraptured by an exhortation from the legendary Al Green "the pulpiteer." Alantonio has been a very busy pulpiteer himself for the past 15 years, working with a number of religious organizations as an organist, traveling across America and around the World. The New York based singer/songwriter and musician, is back, armed with a newfound sense of purpose. Though he remains committed to his religious values, Alantonio now believes he is strong enough to endure the strain of superstardom and its sinful lure. Alantonio agreed to return to the recording studio and wound up creating an appealing mixture of reggae, gospel, calypso and soca beats with non-offensive rhymes. His first single "Raise a Hand", was very well received by fans and artists who missed the mild-mannered reggae singer from England. When asked why returning to secular music, after all these years being alienated from it? Al replied, "How could one sit and not share the talents and gifts that was given them? Now that they are happy and found peace, is not singing to people and making them happy a wonderful thing to do? Well then, after all these years of being stagnant as far as secular music is concerned. I knew it was only time before I considered the many pleas from friends and loyal fans, to hit the secular music stage once more." In the spring of 2003, Alantonio finally took the initiative and followed the admonition of longtime friend, the legendary Soca icon, Alphonsus (ARROW) Cassell, and went to the studio, along with members of Arrow's band and recorded the 2003 Love Somebody CD. This decision has been very remunerative for Alantonio. Track #1 Raise a Hand, has already become a hit here in the USA, and many parts of the world.
