About the Artist
Akataka was born in Cleveland Ohio, I was influenced by my dad’s record collection of Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues and the Rolling Stones. In 1997 I moved to the desert southwest, where the ancient rythyms of the desert landscape captured my soul. That was the beginning of the music.

My intention was to create a powerful sound that would allow people to feel something deep within their soul. The recording process challenged me to become one with the music, while taking each song to the next level. At times I believe a universal energy was flowing through me.

The CD was recorded between 2000-2004 in Sedona Arizona, where I found music producer Gary Bettum and The Music Studio, who helped me cultivate my vision. I was fortunate to find some talented musicians in Gabriel Masterson, Andy Rice and Dimitri Lazarescu, who understood my vision and helped me to create this unique sound. Akataka music is a unique blend of haunting vocals, hypnotic guitars, and instrumental elements that take the listener on a journey. Sit back and enjoy the ride......
