Editorial Reviews
Colin Levy, a quiet, soft spoken, humble and unpretentious Rastaman, whose talent and accomplishments are inspiring and praise worthy; began his life's journey in Hanover, Jamaica. As a youth he enjoyed singing in the Nyahbingi Assembly choir on the weekends, and drawing and painting during his leisure time. Colin does remember being inspired and driven to write songs and sing from an early age. The love of drawing and painting became a source of income when at age 16 he had to supplement his family's income by selling his pieces in Negril, Jamaica. In 1990 Iley migrated to Montreal, Canada where he joined his brother in the family owned restaurant - concert hall The Rainbow Ites. While working at Rainbow Ites, Iley was writing and producing for young local talent and he sometimes performed at the Ites' talent shows as well. In 1994 Iley was introduced to Bevin Jackson, who encouraged him to record his own material and start his own production company, which he did in 1994 - thus the beginning of Kings of Kings. Bevin worked closely with Iley and produced quite a number of songs for Iley, five of which were part of Iley's first album, "A Friend For Life". This association was cut short because of the untimely passing of Bevin due to injuries he received in a motor vehicle accident. "A Friend For Life was release in 2001. Colin has established a formidable career as a songwriter and producer and has produced for Michael Rose, Everton Blenda, Sizzla, Beenie Man, Beres Hammond and the late Dennis Brown and a host of other reggae artists. In 2001 Iley linked up with R. Zee Jackson a.k.a. Castro Pink who assisted Iley in charting and steering his singing career as well as the further development of his Kings of Kings Recording Label. The Kings of Kings label is well known for having several successful Dancehall rhythm driven albums such as "Famine", "Double Jeopardy , "C4" and "Coolie Dance", which has featured dancehall heavy weights such as Elephant Man, Sizzla, Lady Saw, Bounty Killer among others.
