About the Artist
Soprano Molly Watson grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. She started singing at age eight with her community and church choirs, studied voice at the University of Illinois and is at home in the folk, popular, Broadway and classical styles of singing. Her varied repertoire has included appearances as Despina in Mozart's Cosí fan tutte; The Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute; Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro; Adele in Strauss's Die Fledermaus; Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen; Mrs. Peachum in Weill's The Threepenny Opera; The Girl in The Fantastiks; and Antonia in Man of La Mancha. In concert, she has performed both classical and folk music, accompanying herself on the guitar, and has appeared in England with folk music legends Peggy Seeger and Ewan MacColl. Her rendition of Mozart's Laudate Dominum was the basis for a music video featuring ballerina Antonia Francheschi. In 1989, she sang at Carnegie Hall in the New York premiere of Norman Dello Joio's Nativity: A Canticle for the Child.

Trained as a solo artist, Eugene Cline discovered very early the joys of collaboration with other musicians, especially singers, since they used the extra-musical value of words to deepen the musical experience. So, for the past 30 years he has devoted himself to the repertoire of opera, art song, and vintage popular music. His experience ranges from conducting in regional opera companies and dinner theatre to national recital tours with singers from the United States and Europe. Mr. Cline resides in New York City.

Bird in a Gilded Cage, an album of popular songs from the turn of the last century, Ms.Watson's first recording with Mr. Cline, was released in 1999. The duo released their second CD, Five Foot Two ..., a collection of popular songs from the Roaring Twenties, in 2001.
