About the Artist
Brien Engel is helping to revive and promote the art of glass music. His instrument is a glass harp, consisting of 50 goblets of various sizes, which he plays by rubbing the rims of the glasses with moistened fingers. In addition to being one of very few professional glass harpists in the world, Brien has made notable strides in bringing unusual and challenging styles of playing to the instrument, particularly as a jazz musician. In his repertoire are also compositions written for the armonica, a glass instrument invented by Ben Franklin. Brien performs in a variety of venues across the United States and abroad.
