About the Artist
HECTOR CUEVAS, director of The Boston Latin Band was born a musician, listening to Cuban music on the radio in his home in the Dominican Republic during the 1960's.

Arriving in the U.S. at 17 to work and study accounting, Hector only had music in his heart. He began playing with Rafael Batista y Los Antillanos and then Primitivo Santos and Johnny Pacheco in New York. In New Orleans he palyed with Los Catrachos Boys and formed EL CONJUNTO CACHE with Jesus Alejandro Perez, who is reunited with Hector and featured on this CD. In Miami, Hector played with Hanzel and Raul's Orquesta Calle Ocho with Cachao, Eddie Guagua Rivera, Paquito de Rivera, Kenny Gomez, Jose Gomez and Monchi Fernandez.

Knowing there was no real Latin Band in Boston, Cuevas formed THE BOSTON LATIN BAND in September of 2002.
