Editorial Reviews
"His personality, his brilliance on the half-guitar, half-harp contraption known as kora, could fill the Albert Hall."
Product Description
Seckou Keita, a descendant of the Keita family of kings from Mali, is a multi-talented artist playing kora, drums and percussion. He already has a respected career in world music having performed alongside African stars Cheikh Lô and Papa Wemba and having been nominated for the BBC "World Music Award" 2001.
His reputation and talent have made him an indispensable element of most African festivals such as Drum Camp, Ace and Tribe of Doris. He is also greatly in demand for other events such as first night openings of musicals, which he has done for the "Lion King" in Covent Garden, London.
"Mali", his debut release for ARC, is a joyous and masterful recording with Seckous rich voice intertwining with his kora which in turn fuses with violin, whistle, mandolin, bass, banjo, guitar, drums and traditional African percussion.
