Lama Yeshe is an American Vajrayana Buddhist Lama from the Ngakpa(mo) order of male and female householder Tantric yogins founded by the Mahaguru, Padmasamabhava in 8th century C.E. In addition to developing a unique modal style of guitar playing, he is an accomplished performing and recording guitarist in other genres. Lama Yeshe has composed music for Buddhist mantras and songs in Classical Raga, Central Asian, Middle Eastern, North African, Persian, Turkish and other ethnic modal styles of music. He has performed his songs for many Venerable Lamas, Buddhist organizations and Universities. Lama Yeshe is currently in the Doctoral Studies Religion and Education program at Claremont Graduate University and teaches Philosophy and Religion seminars at Universities and Colleges in Southern California. His Master's work was done in Philosophy and Education. Lama Yeshe is one of two Westerners that have received the spiritual appellation Ngakchang (Holder/Transmitter of mantric power). He is considered a Gomchen (Meditation Master) and is empowered to teach and transmit the sublime Vajrayana doctrines of Dzogchen (The Great Perfection) and Mahamudra (The Great Seal).
Rahul Sakyaputra is world-renowned sitarist. He studied sitar with the illustrious Baba Allaudin Khan, the greatest North Indian musician and preceptor of the 20th century. He has performed at various international concert halls and other venues: World Expo and International Music festival in Denmark; Universities in North America; many of Indias premier concert halls, including the Birla Theatre and the famous Shanmukhananda Hall in Bombay; His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Bombay; and countless others.
Rahul has scored films and performed for many television and radio shows. He has played and recorded with many western musicians including: Patrick Moraze of the Moody Blues, Germanys pop star Christian Anders; and Ryugen Watanabe. Rahul is a Buddhist scholar who is able to explain the inter-relationship between Buddhist Philosophy and Indian classical music. Rahul resides and teaches classical Indian music in Los Angeles, California. Rahul has performed home concerts for Kurt Russell, Goldi Hahn and other entertainment and industry luminaries. In addition, Rahul is an accomplished painter who has developed a unique watercolor style for depicting scenes of ancient India.
Ron Wagner began his study of percussion with John Rowland of the Buffalo Philharmonic orchestra. Ron received a full scholarship from the prestigious Eastman School of Music with Professor John Beck. Ron began his ethnic percussion studies with classical Indian tablas under the tutelage of Harihar Rao. He continued his studies with the great tabla master Pandit Taranath Rao. In addition to Rahul Sakyaputra, Ron has recorded with Ashish Khan, Aloke Das Gupta, Sumita Kundu and other Indian master musicians. Ron has performed with the Brazilian maestro Moacir Santos who introduced him to the sophisticated rhythms of Brazil. In the years that followed Ron has played and recorded with the greatest Brazilian musicians and singers. Rons work with Avaz Dance Company began a long foray into Middle Eastern drums. He performs solos on Doiras (frame drums from Uzbekistan) and has played Egyptian, Turkish, Armenian, Persian and Central Asia drums with a variety of musicians and artists from the Middle Eastern and Central Asian Community. Ron has written music in a variety of styles for live performances, film scores, and theatre productions. Ron also composes music for Rhythmic Visions, a dance and percussion company founded with dancer Emily Mayne.
MiraBai Khandro (Sky Walker) Henderson is a songstress and poetess that regularly performs with The WindHorse Ensemble. Her purity, devotion and vocal range imbue her chanting with great beauty and blessings. She has been singing her heart songs since childhood. In her youth, she trained in opera, classical, gospel, and contemporary music
