Music and singing has always been a natural part in the stories about the Moomin family, written by Finnish painter and novelist Tove Jansson (1914-2001). The original songs, composed by Erna Tauro, were introduced to theater audiences in the late 1950’s, in the peak of the troubadour boom.
"Often portrayed as children’s fairy tales, Moomin stories can be enjoyed on many levels and at any age" arranger and producer Mika Pohjola says, and this aesthetics has been the motto for his musical redesign.

Moomin Voices is the first recorded collection of the entire original Moomin song book, composed by Tove Jansson and Erna Tauro, and arranged by Mika Pohjola.
Pohjola has created vocal ensemble-like layers with vocalist Johanna Grüssner, who sings all voices herself. Strings, flutes, recorder, vibraphone, piano, electric bass, acoustic basses and percussion add to the emotions, which stretch the musical range to previously unexperienced dynamics.
The sheet music is included free with Moomin Voices, which can be printed out by inserting the Enhanced CD into a Computer. Packaged in the Digipak-format.
