Leading off your album with a track called "Perfect" is just begging for trouble. You can hear jaded music critics sneering, " 'Perfect', huh? We'll see about THAT." But Atlanta singer-songwriter Doria Roberts' sophmore effort comes as close to flawless as a low budget indie release can get. Roberts' mesmerizing voice, which grafts the whip-smart elocution of Ani DiFranco to the soul of Lauryn Hill, draws you in. Her evocative meditations on love and hanging out, along with the warm production by longtime Atlanta folkie Dede Vogt, hold you. Just listen to the brawny cello countermelody on the the title track or the sumptuous bass line on "Bluebird". If that's not perfection, I don't know what is. --Doug Hamilton

Doria Roberts' exquisite second disc [is] all acoustic, but with a fullness that defies you categorize her music as simply folk. Roberts' topical tunes are smoothly mellow, yet have a jazzy/bluesy bite, which keeps you intrigued and entertained. But it's Roberts' liquid, effortlessly effecting vocals that reach out of the speakers and put her in the room with the listener. Sexy, forthright, and extremely talented, Roberts will entice and seduce you with her thoughtful, often, challenging lyrics and thrilling voice. --Hal Horowitz
