About the Artist
Paul Beatty records from his home studio in Whitestone, New York. Some of his more significant efforts include a 3.5-year tenure (1989-1993) as a full-time musical producer for Esquire Records (Huntington Station, NY). While there, he went on to produce more than 200 compositions. 75 of them in 1992 alone. In July of 1995 he had the opportunity to produce his first professional motion picture soundtrack for the short-film, 'Beyond Reason'. Private screenings were held later that year at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Center, NYC. The production was well received at numerous film festivals & a full-length version (to be retitled 'Intervention') is hopeful to go into production during the winter of 2001. The commercial stage is also no stranger to Paul: July of 1999 saw him produce several musical beds for the Fleischmann's Yeast national ad campaign via PBS. And in the spring of 2000, he created jingles for a series of ads for Expressway Oil Lube Centers in Westchester, New York. Also in 2000, he composed the soundtrack to the award winning short film, 'The Happy Prince'. And for icing on the cake, the year was highlighted with the release of 'Bookends'. Currently, a brand new 14-track CD entitled 'Initial Contact' is in production. It is scheduled for completion next spring. In addition to being prolific, he is sure to make certain that everything is in place... "I can't tolerate some of the laziness that goes on. It is much too prevalent in today's standards", states Beatty. "There is a professional work ethic that needs to be achieved. I will go for it." Paul, a late bloomer for the piano (began practicing at age 15), has certainly made up for the lost time. A veteran of more than 600 live performances, & literally thousands of hours of production time, have helped to iron out the wrinkles. If you wish to learn more about Paul, please visit his website.

'Bookends', Paul's recent professional solo release, is sure to catch the attention of the Jazz and New Age society... and beyond... This 12 track follow-up to his successful 1996 'Dinner For One' release offers an equally refreshing program. From the electrifying opener, '2000', right through to the smooth title track finale, Beatty approaches each composition with sensitivity and precision. You'll soar to new heights with the effervescent 'Eternity' and be restored to tranquility with 'Remember Me'. For variety, he collaborates with vocalist Russell Targove to produce two catchy pop tracks, 'If I Fell' & 'For Always'. And if you really wanna move, the up-tempo rhythms of 'Second To None' will not disappoint. So put your books down & give 'BOOKENDS' a listen...
