An outlet for the original compositions of Fred Hughes and Tom Williams, the Fred Hughes Band features Fred Hughes on piano, Tom Williams on bass, Frank Russo on drums, Dave Cosby on guitar and Grammy nominated vocalist Juanita Williams.
Bringing over 50 years combined experience to the stage, the members of the Fred Hughes Band have performed with such jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Toots Thielemann, Slide Hampton, Roy Hargrove, Diane Schurr, Claudio Roditi, Arturo Sandoval, Bill Watrous, Al Cohn and James Moody.
They have performed and presented workshops at most of the major colleges and universities in the United States, have performed at such prestigious festivals as the Montreux, North Sea, Nice and Newport Jazz Festivals and conducted and performed with orchestras across the United States to include the Cincinnati Pops, the Baltimore Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Washington and Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestras.
The groups sound is a mixture of contemporary jazz, Latin and world beats. Debuting in April of 2004, the band's debut recording is titled, New Day Dawning.
