Lennie Tristano (1919-1979) is, undoubtedly, one of the more radical artists in modern jazz. As a pianist, Tristano brought about a very personal approach to the Bop idiom, based upon purity of sound and emotional restrainment, this original approach was in the origins of the cool school.
