About the Artist
Liza Lee, the New York City based indie artist has no musical boundaries from jazz to rock, from folk to classical. You cannot put this girl into a box. Liza comes from a family steeped in musical tradition. Her grandfather was a seasoned jazz drummer and her grandmother, Terry Norman was an internationally known jazz vocalist. Liza was always surrounded by music as a child.

Liza's performing career began at the age of four when she was a featured performer at church and local functions. As she entered her teen years, she developed an interest in theater and focused her efforts in that direction. Her talent quickly outgrew her environment and she soon began touring the United States in numerous theater productions, as well as modeling and acting in both television and film.

After numerous years performing on stage and screen Liza's jazz roots have resurfaced; she is drawn to this music by the freedom to express herself. Liza loves to take songs not typical of the standard jazz set and retell these stories in her own style as well as singing classic standards with her own modern flair. Through this creative pursuit, she has developed a collaborative relationship with one of today's premier jazz pianists, Max Jazz recording artist and producer, Bruce Barth. Bruce produced her first CD and co-produced and arranged her latest project, "Scarlet Mark". Liza is surrounded by some of the greatest musicians on the New York City music scene today and has been accepted as one of their own.

"Scarlet Mark" has been both a musical and emotional exploration for Liza as it draws on the last few years of her life and touches on how she like many other women, seek validation through relationships with men. "Scarlet Mark" is a journey of love, marriage, heartbreak, and personal growth. On this CD, Liza exhibits additional talents as she co-produced the project ad co-wrote the title track with bassist, Pat O'Leary as well releasing the CD on her independent label Jazz Doll records.

Liza continues to work and grow as an artist. Always eager to learn she studies with the renowned Jeannette LoVetri of the Voice Workshop. In the fall of 2004 she will begin her "Scarlet" tour to promote her new CD before heading over to Europe in the spring of 2005. Liza is a welcomed addition to the modern jazz world. Liza brings her passion, charisma and charm to every performance. We will be hearing great things from Liza Lee for many years to come.
