Joelle Leandre, double bass player, improviser and French composer, are one of the dominant figures of the new European music. Formed with the orchestral music and the contemporary music, she played with the Route, 2e2m and the Intercontemporain Unit of Pierre Boulez. Joelle Leandre also worked with Merce Cunningham and John Cage; this last, with Scelsi, Fenelon, Jolas, Clementi and a score of other type-setters wrote especially for it. In addition to the contemporary music, Leandre worked with the great names of the jazz and of the improvisation, with Derek Bailey, Antony Braxton, George Lewis, Evan Parker, Irene Schweizer, Barre Phillips, Steve Lacy, Lauren Newton. Its radiation is international; its activities of creative and interpreter, as well in solo as in unit, led it on the most prestigious scenes European, American and Asian. Reqords. 2005.
