HERB SILVERSTEIN, MD (piano)

An ear surgeon by day, a budding composer and pianist by night, Dr. Herb continues to build his sand castle, grain by grain as he creates musical gifts for all to hear. Each of his CDs is a way to bring awareness of the beauty of sound, and the reason for his fund-raising efforts. His hope is that someday research will find the answers to deafness and all will be able to enjoy these same sounds. World-class multi-instrumentalist, composer/arranger and producer, Richard Drexler grew up in a musical family and continues to travel the world demonstrating his talents with a high-ranking variety of artists. Most recently, he has toured with the Woody Herman orchestra, bassist Jeff Berlin and trombonist John Allred. His performance resume would take volumes to write but includes hundreds of other musicians, including Mel Torme, Nat Adderley, Tony Bennett, Kenny Drew Jr., Dave Liebman, and others listed on his web site. Drexler’s latest CD, Senor Juan Brahms, a mammoth undertaking of true dedication and adoration for the master’s music, offers jazzy renditions of such tunes as the Hungarian Dance #1 in g minor, the piano quartet #3 in c minor and more.

Much of my own personal joy and inspiration has come from my now passed cousin, Maury Feldbaum, and my just-passed best friend Dr. Jean-Bernard Causse. For ten wonderful years, Maury and I spent our Fridays together sharing thoughts and ideas over bistro-style lunches. J.B. Cause (get the play on words in the title now?) and I traveled the world together sharing many special moments that are now memories.
