Product Description
'From the Bottle' is the second album by Tigersmilk, the trio of cornetist, electronicist, and Brazilian-based laptoper Rob Mazurek (Chicago Underground), Chicago-centered acoustic bassist Jason Roebke (Fred Lonberg-Holm) and Vancouver percussionist Dylan van der Schyff. Tigersmilk is a full improvising unit that surpasses the jazz-as-jazz sound for an individualist style steeped in a continuously unfolding mood. Without overplaying or extending any instrument, the three eloquently display deep orchestral colors and momentum that can shift from chattering avant-garde interplay to ambient suspensions. Mazureks electronics propel an abstraction that adds the sound of Now to these post-hard bop pieces that would make a Blue Note fan smile.
Tigersmilk's 2003 debut won raves in The Wire, Signal to Noise and Chicago Reader
