About the Artist
Mixed and co-produced by legendary engineer David J. Holman (Bush, No Doubt), "Groovin'" features the twin-guitar attack virtuoso rock fusion duo Brett Garsed and T.J. Helmerich, Bobby's longtime partner in crime Carl 'The Fox' Carter on bass, and vocalist extraordinaire 'Big Ray' Greene (Rick James). The package also includes a retrospective overview on the making of "Groovin'" and 'Just Visiting,' a fascinating memoir detailing Bobby's experiences in Houston's infamous Fifth Ward, which proved to be a catalyst for this solo effort.
Product Description
"Groovin' In Tongues" is a repackaged release to CD of Bobby Rock's 1994 debut EP. This re-mastered, 6-song collection features four vocal tracks - one of which is a never-before-released bonus cut - and two instrumentals, including extended version of Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein." (The edited version would later appear on Bobby's critically-acclaimed official debut, "Out of Body.") The innovative blend of soulful vocals with Bobby's now-trademark funk-rock instrumental sound gives this record a decidedly progressive edge, making it an excellent addendum to Bobby's other titles.
