Eric Frazier was born in Harlem, New York City, New York. He was raised in Brooklyn, New York in a family of eight children. He had ran track and road races for most of his life and gradually devoted more attention to a second love, the drums. Eric studied with members of the Dance Company of Senegal and played for several years with the great Chief Bey. He developed his own troupe, The Alafia Drummers and Dancers, Inspired by his brother Gary, a former Alvin Aile y Dancer. Eric hosted his own television talk show called "Cultural Horizons"on Queens New York Public access TV in 1998. He is currently the co-host of WLIU Jazz Radio 88.1 FM also aired on Brooklyn cable TV. Eric Has made numerous appearances on cable TV shows including BET Jazz Discovery, Caribbean Soul, Jazzy Jazz and the Camille Yarborough Manhattan cable TV Talk Show.
Eric Has performed with such greats as Pharaoh Sanders, George Benson, and Jack McDuff. His band has included the great Reggie Workman, Robin Kenyatta, Danny Mixon, and Bill Saxton. He began playing the African drums with Olatunji, Chief Bey, Katherine Dunham and Charles Moore. Eric has performed at many of the well known entertainment establishments including such venues as the famed New York Rainbow Room, The Apollo Theater, Madison Square Garden Theater, Philadelphia Convention Center and the Chicago Cotton Club. He was educated at the famed Boys High School in Brooklyn, New York. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in three years at Southern Illinois University and two Masters degrees and a Doctoral ABD in Education Administration at Columbia University Teachers College NYC New York.
