About the Artist
John Toomey, jazz pianist, performs frequently with vocalists Mark Murphy and Rene Marie, as well as with the Uptown Jazz Vocal Quartet. John was formerly music director and keyboardist with jazz legend Maynard Ferguson, with whom he recorded two cds. He was a finalist in the Jacksonville Great American Jazz Piano Competition, and is currently Professor of Jazz Studies at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. John can also be heard on "Smile", a recent release with vocalist Lisanne Lyons.
