Robbins' Nest: Live at the Jazz Showcase [Live]

Editorial Reviews

Jazziz
"Sounds as if the pianist turned back time. 'Robbins' Nest' remains one of the more ingenious inventions of its historical moment."

Product Description
Pianist Sir Charles Thompson is best known for his historic 1945-47 Apollo recordings with Charlie Parker and Dexter Gordon ("Takin' Off," available on Amazon), and his signature tune, "Robbins' Nest," has become a jazz standard. A mainstay of New York's dynamic 52nd Street scene in the '40s and '50s, Thompson recorded with Coleman Hawkins, Illinois Jacquet, Buck Clayton, Leo Parker, etc. This long-awaited homecoming, impeccably recorded live at Chicago's Jazz Showcase in 2000, features appearances by Eric Schneider and Art Hoyle.
