About the Artist
Describing something may not always be simple. Imagine hearing a sound that within its vibration takes you deep inside yourself. While you are in that place of self, you become aware of whatÕs really going on around you. The lights turn on and you can see clearly. The angst of not being able to move about without direction has been eliminated. You feel relieved, you feel free -- you are inspired to growÉand to evolve. What happens at that moment transcends the listener completely; have you ever experienced a sound so powerful, so true, so holistic, so organic, so new - yet so familiar? A sound so exacting to what is needed in your life that it reminds you of who you are and why you are? This sound exists right now, it is called, Murani Innertainment. Murani Innertainment is the musical movement emanating from the mind, heart, and spirit of composer, producer, artist, and "innertainer," Michael Johnson. Born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. Michael grew up surrounded by music. He considers it the very reason he is "alive." His father was a jazz trumpet player, his uncle a big band leader, his older sister a jazz vocalist. When he was young his grandfather built a music room and encouraged Michael to learn to play. So he did learn to play, write, compose, and produce. Murani Innertainment is a vibration of new-jazz, soul, and meditative-funk. Murani Innerainment is a collective of featured artists, vocalists, and instrumentalists. The music cannot be defined by one genre, however it is distinctive. Featured on the debut CD titled Murani Innertainment: UK vocalists, Santessa, who is mentored by Stewart Matthewman of Sade; John Campbell; Chicago native jazz vibraphonist, Darlene Hill; and the vocal icing of Michael Johnson atop a cake of decadence. Michael’s signature sound is present whether it’s on an R&B song or a jazzy dance track for the likes of UK soul and R&B legends Loose Ends, Grammy nominated vocalist Dionne Ferris, or felt in the Lions Gate Film Company release of Gang Tapes, where he produced the track "Evolution" which features the powerful LA-based soul poet Sonja Marie. Murani Innertainment CD was the #1 best selling independent CD in Atlanta the summer of 2002, and can be heard on Atlanta’s premier jazz radio station 91.9fm(WCLK). Murani is considered one of the hottest live shows around and has been the featured act in concerts through out Atlanta, such as Morehouse’s Home Coming concert sharing the stage with La Face recording artist, Donnell Jones. Come! Experience this vibration. The vibration of Murani. Let the evolution begin.
