About the Artist
Steve Herberman is based in the DC/MD/VA area and teaches jazz guitar at Towson University near Baltimore. He received his degree from Berklee College of Music where he studied with Gary Burton and John LaPorta. Steve has performed with Buster Williams, Keter Betts, Gary Bartz, Buck Hill, Joe Puma, John Pisano and Terell Stafford.

Thought Lines, Steve Herberman's debut CD, features his favorite instrumentation of guitar/sax/bass/drums. The CD consists of 4 originals and 7 Jazz/American popular standards that are given complete facelifts.The guitar takes on the role of a piano often playing chords and melody simultaneously. The masterful playing of Lenny Breau and Ed Bickert led Steve to experiment with this difficult style which fine-tuned his primarily fingerstyle technique. After studying the techniques of 7 string virtuoso George VanEps, Herberman adopted the 7 string guitar which he has played exclusively for the past eight years.
