About the Artist
Rhonda Ringering, Writer and Pianist

Rhonda Ringering has crafted a career for herself as a writer, a pianist, and an instructor. A published author, Rhonda brings her storytelling abilities to her music that has been described as passionate, intimate and honest. She holds a B.A. degree from Walla Walla College where she was an English major and studied piano with Dr. Leonard Richter. She also spent a term studying in England with a Royal Conservatory of Music instructor and since college has continued her piano studies with Dr. Jill Timmons, Artist-in-Residence at Linfield College. In addition to publishing stories and articles through college, she was the first in her graduating class to publish a book.

As a writer, Rhonda (Graham) Ringering sold her first story to Guide magazine at age 15 and her first book, Promises to Keep to Pacific Press at age 22. Since then, Rhonda authored four more books for Pacific Press: Yesterday’s Tears, Making the Team, Best for Me, and Nowhere to Turn. She has been music reviewer for The Bend View, and feature story freelancer for the Forest Grove News-Times. Her articles have appeared in In Balance, Sforzando, and Piano & Keyboard. Currently, her work appears regularly in Clavier, a nationally recognized music magazine, and she is at work on another novel.

As a pianist, Rhonda has appeared throughout the northwest in such venues as The Old Church, Multnomah Central Library, The Community Music Center, numerous retirement centers and churches, and has appeared as a soloist with the Central Oregon Symphony. She has presented "Writers as Musicians. Musicians as Writers" in many venues, including the Ernest Bloch Music Festival’s "Arts and Humanities Day", Powell’s Bookstore Concert Series and Classical Millennium. Her first CD, Made in America, released on Dolce Sfogato label in April 2001, has been heard on KBPS Classical 89.9 FM and is available through Burnside Distributions.

As an instructor, Rhonda taught creative writing classes for Portland Community College and Mt. Hood Community College community education programs. She is a private music instructor and has presented programs and master classes for the Oregon Music Teacher’s Association, McMinnville and Bend Districts.

In her presentations Rhonda combines her unique experiences in the arts to create unforgettable encounters with the stories and music of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
